Caffeine is a stimulant of the world’s most widely used of the central nervous system by about 80% is consumed in the form of coffee. However, studies analyzing the relationship between coffee or caffeine consumption and risk of depression are few and far between.

The study, published today in the Archives of Internal Medicine, questioned 50,739 women who participated in Study Nurses’ Health, a major U.S. investigation to explore health and lifestyle.
This study tracking women’s health 1980-2004 using a detailed questionnaire to record their coffee consumption. Just more than 2,600 women who experience depression during this period. Analysis showed that more than a woman drinking coffee instead of little or no coffee drinkers often.
It is not clear why coffee may have beneficial effects, but the authors believe that the caffeine in coffee can alter brain chemistry. Researchers did not find an association similar to coffee without caffeine or other sources of caffeine, including soft drinks and tea.
